An automate pipeline for generating fiber orientation and region annotation in patient specific atrial models

Abstract Modeling the 'digital twin' of a patient's heart has gained traction in last years and helps to understand pathogenic mechanisms cardiovascular disease pave way for personalized therapies. Although 3D patient-specific model (PSM) can be obtained from computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), fiber orientation cardiac muscle, which significantly affects electrophysiological mechanical characteristics heart, hardly vivo. Several approaches have been suggested solve this problem. However, most them require considerable amount human interaction, is both time-consuming potential source error. In work, highly automated pipeline based on Laplace- Dirichlet-rule-based method (LDRBM) annotating fibers anatomical regions atria introduced. The calculated arrangement was regionally compared with observations literature faithfully reproduced clinical experimental data.
